Track 1 – It Ain’t No Good To Me
In which my old bandmate from Racy Dates, Nancy, comes out of retirement and nails her part in one take. I have sung with a lot of people over the years but never enjoyed any of them more than her. There is something special about singing with the people you learned to sing with, and from. We can always find a place for our voices together. Chris DeRosa took rough guitar-and-vocal tracks and remotely put down his drum parts for this song and three others on the album. I never would have got this project off the ground without that foundation. I also got to do something I always wanted to do on this song: play a backwards guitar solo.
Oscar Wilde said it best Get your love off your chest Donovan said it too Wear your love all over you But it ain't no good to me (oh yeah) It ain't no good to me (oh no) It ain't no good to me (oh yeah) Elegant as a man Living in a garbage can There's no hope without shame For the love that dares not speak its name But it ain't no good to me (oh yeah) It ain't no good to me (oh no) It ain't no good to me (oh yeah) Julia, Emily, Maria, Tiffany Might as well pay someone 'Cause it seems like that's the way you get things done But it ain't no good to me (oh yeah) It ain't no good to me (oh no) It ain't no good to me (oh yeah)
