Day 45

Day 45 – Total confirmed cases in US: 1,012,583

As we pass a million cases in my country, and a quarter of a million deaths worldwide, there are innumerable innocences being lost. We will remember the devastation of loss but innocence lies beyond the reach of memory…

Innocence rips like a breeze
that cuts through the grass to
expose little dirty things
like seeds and cigarette butts

Memories of innocence
get lost behind soft
curtains of accidental corruption
and rusty black routine

Innocence remembers what
experience has forgotten
all those years of education
to undo the knowledge we were born with

But innocence has violence
that will not surrender
and it always comes back in the end to
claim its own
