Day 11 – Total confirmed cases in US: 69,197
Maybe you’ve heard the quote from Hiram Johnson, “The first casualty of war is truth,” but most people leave out the next line: “And the first casualty of a pandemic is tequila.”
As of the last inventory, we have 11 beers, 4 bottles of wine (2 red, 2 white), a half a bottle of vodka, a few assorted liqueurs, and a full bottle of gin. I haven’t been a gin drinker since college but I’m willing to re-learn.
Another thing I haven’t done since college is paint. Back then, my medium of choice was acrylic but I thought I’d ease my way back in with watercolor.
My favorite subject in high school was art. In college, it was second only to my major, psychology. Over the last couple of decades, as I have veered back and forth between music and writing, I never lost interest in the visual arts as a means of expression. I didn’t realize until last weekend that there was a missing ingredient in most of my sketches: color. It is a nice distraction from the horrific news of the day to find comfort in the variety of shades and shadows in color.
