When I was a child I thought there was a land of make-believe where the people in the fairy tales lived. When I got older I thought that just was the foolishness of childhood. Now that I’m older, I realize the land of make-believe does exist. I went there last week.

The City of Angels has a unique talent for blurring the lines between fantasy and reality. The snow we stepped over leaving a friends apartment wasn’t real – it was foam that was sprayed there for a movie they were shooting – but the man being held down that we stepped around thinking it was a movie was actually a burglar being apprehended by the police.

It makes you think. It makes you ask questions. Did I really ride in a car without a driver? Did I play a Steinway piano that Randy Newman and John Williams played before me? Did I get interviewed on a red carpet and a podcast? Did I perform my song The Light In Your Eyes in front of hundreds of people at the world premiere of Celeste Friedman’s wonderful film Love and Karma? I’m not sure but you can watch this video and see for yourself:
