In your light I learn how to love
In your beauty, how to make poems.
You dance inside my chest
where no one sees you,
but sometimes I do,
and that sight becomes this art. – Rumi

Here are two pictures of me with the love of my life. One is the first picture of us, snapped surreptitiously by a friend in the Fall of 1980. The other is the most recent of us, a selfie in Central Park from two weeks ago.

A lot of life has passed between those two photos. We watched our parents grow old and die and saw our baby grow into a man. 35 years ago today we made this thing legal.
You are still the one I want to talk with, laugh with, and love with. And if that’s not nice, I don’t know what is.
Happy Anniversary, my love.
Reason has no way to say
its love. Only love opens
that secret.
If you want
to be more alive, love
is the truest health. – Rumi
