When you lose something you’re supposed to go back to the last place you remember seeing it. It’s been a couple of months since I’ve written a song so I went back to Reichenbach Hall where I spent a few lunch hours last year sitting at the bar, writing lyrics. I found this one waiting for me there: Everybody Lies.
I like to pretend
That I’m going to change
But the older that I get
The more I stay the same
The more I talk to you
The more I understand
The more I see of you
The less I think I can
It happens all the time
Everybody says
It happens all the time
But everybody lies
I can’t help but think
You could be the one
To open up my heart
And shine in like the sun
I can’t help but think
It always has been you
There’s nobody else
Who can do what you do
It happens all the time
Everybody says
It happens all the time
But everybody lies
The more of you I touch
The less of me I feel
The more of you I love
The less of me I need
It happens all the time
Everybody says
It happens all the time
But everybody lies
