Mike’s Musical Monday – Scared

This song is almost 30 years old. It reminds me of Phil Ochs. Not because it sounds like his music but because of the annoying way it stays relevant.

I’m scared of you
Afraid that you’ll touch me
Afraid that you won’t
Afraid that you already have and I don’t even know

I want you
I want you to see me
I’m trying to see you
I want you to know what I feel even when I don’t

I look, I look at you
I look at your delicate face
Looking at me
Seeing all the things that I don’t know how to hide

I’m scared of you
Afraid that I love you
Afraid that I don’t
Afraid you don’t even know what I’m talking about

New album "Observations" available now. A veteran of NYC’s underground music scene, Mike Power played on the stages of such beloved lost venues as CBGB’s and Kenny’s Castaways, as well as stalwart surviving ones like Arlene’s Grocery and the Bitter End as singer/songwriter/bassist with Late Model Humans. In 2020, quarantining from the global pandemic he worked remotely with other artists to record a collection of new music called Observations, that infuses his punk roots with introspective acoustic pieces.
